Rebadging Opels as Vauxhalls.

I was a thing here in Germany about a decade ago when Vauxhall had a distinctive grill.

Didn’t Opel get the same grille with the Opel badge where the Vauxhall one is?
There’s a Vectra in Belgium as well with a Vauxhall grille.
It seems odd to me. I see RHD Opels in the U.K. because some find a cheaper deal buying new vehicles in Europe rather than the U.K. (ie they might find a cheaper Insignia in Germany closer to where they are built in Germany), so they are RHD but wear all Opel badging.

Took me a minute to register this wasn’t someone’s girlfriend posing with their imported Monte Carlo. Sorta one of those moments where you imagine an unremarkable car over here is laughably desirable in some other part of the world.

It’s an old 1990s Opel/Vauxhall Calibra.

won’t be long and it’ll happen here with the new Commodore/Insignia, if it hasn’t already.

Not until the first Insignia in around 2008 I believe.
Re-imports are a thing here as well as the standard equipment of cars can vary in certain regions. I don’t know if that’s the case nowadays but in the mid naughts a colleague of my mum bought a Meriva that was originally sold in Hungary. The downside of this was an owner’s manual in Hungarian.

I’m wondering when will be the first North American who takes the plastic off the TourX (U.K. Country Tourer) and makes it into a Sports Tourer.

Ye’, each country has their own specs. Even the Skoda Super in the U.K. is different to the one sold in Ireland, it’s only a couple of things or so but a difference all the same.

If you squint the red trim and angle the photo was taken at make it resemble a Monte Carlo easily twice its size. Maybe I’m just seeing Chevy’s everywhere after that 85% acceptable concept car that got double posted yesterday.

I don’t hate it, and I assume the price of entry on this car makes this somewhat of a budget car guy kinda thing. Over here it’d be all kinds of stuck on crap from Pep Boys like hood scoops and flame pinstripes. I’ll take that Vauxhall.

Top one is a Vauxhall Calibra (1989-1997 , or rather as it’s a LHD, it’s an Opel Calibra.
The one below is a Opel Vectra B (1995-2002).
A good Calibra can be had from £3-10,000, prices have shot up recently as they are a modern classic and people who were children when these came out are now buying them to remember their youth.
This one below is a1997 2.5 V6 auto, for £2,500.
The manuals are more desirable.

e that sounded insane and yeah, some people are putting the asking prices that high.
Looks like all the ones that are actually selling are still around £1k-2k though.

Chances are the eBay ones are molested.
For something like that, check out carandclassic.co.uk the cars are more likely to be better cared for.

Ye’, while not being a true representation of prices for vehicles. Vehicles on carandclassic tend to be better looked after than vehicles on eBay or Autotrader for vehicles like BMW E30s, E36s, etc... and other cars that generally would of been molested by cheap aftermarket performance parts, alarm systems and body parts.
If I want a cheap-ish car I'd look towards eBay or Autotrader, for performance I'd look at Piston Heads, for pampered I'd look at Detailing World, for well looked after I'd look at carandclassic.
